Many of you who are reading this are scattered throughout the world. I can only imagine how America looks to you right now. From where I'm sitting, it's shameful. It's shameful that we, as a nation, value the lives of some citizens more than others. And it's even more shameful we have been fighting for racial equality for so many years, that so many people think we have already achieved it, and we haven't. We are nowhere close. I thought we were closer than this, and it's been a humbling experience to realize just how much further we have to go.

We are fighting for peace. We are fighting for equality. I have no excuses for why it hasn't happened already. But we are not giving up.

It's been hard to feel good posting about travel lately. The conditions we have been facing over these last few months have been so confronting and sad, and looking at old travel photos just makes me sadder.

But hey, I'm back, and I'm still going to share my travel experiences. For a little while at least, I'll just keep my adventures limited to Brooklyn. This is my own personal #stayhome campaign.

Today's adventure had me wandering for hours through Greenwood Cemetery. If you followed my adventures through New Orleans, you know I love visiting cemeteries. There's so much history surrounded by peace and art.

Amsterdam is full of buildings with small spaces in between because they have shifted over time (it happens when you build on swamps and canals!) but this one is extra special!

If you're wandering down Westerstraat in the Jordaan district, you might notice that the street numbers jump from 54 to 70. Apparently the houses in between used to be accessible through a small courtyard, which is now gone, and so too went houses 56-68.
.
.
But don't worry! Someone went ahead and filled in the gaps! Literally! Check out these tiny hidden houses!

As I took these pictures, a local couple who had lived in the neighborhood for years stopped to see what I was photographing. They'd never noticed these little houses before! So if you don't think they're easy to miss, take it from this couple who had walked by them hundreds of times. You have to know what you're looking for!

I walked by this little spot on 5th avenue and wondered why I had never been in before. Turns out that today is their first today in business! I guess that's why! 😁

New York City is full of Japanese restaurants, but it's rare to find one that really captures the flavor palate of Japan. Well Konbini (@konbininy ) is one of them! This lunch set, only $11 by the way, made me feel like I was back in Japan with every bite.⛩️

To give you an idea of their level of authenticity, they even have natto on the menu! Now, I will never be ordering it. Natto and olives are the only flavors I can't handle! But I appreciate that they have the option!

Would you believe these little houses are nestled within the foreboding stone walls of the Tower of London? They are!!

Welcome to the Queen's House. This little section was built in the 1500s and managed to survive the Great Fire because it was protected by the stone walls of the Tower.

Now, the Resident Governor of the Tower of London lives there. I don't know quite what that job entails, but I'd certainly like to live in that house!! Or anywhere with a guard like that outside! 💂

I had to duck into @ivan_ramen on this cold, dreary day, and I overheard someone at the counter next to me declaring that he came to New York just to eat there. 🍜

Now, I do hope be was exaggerating at least a little bit, but it got me thinking. I had to go fifteen minutes out of my way to get this incredible bowl of ramen (and yes, it was incredible!). How far had this guy traveled?? And this was my first visit! Clearly, I've been living my New York life all wrong. I need to be here more often!!

I went on a Google hunt for the best fish and chips in London, and @poppiesfishandchips showed up on every list. So of course I had to give it a try...and I was not disappointed!

At this 1950s style cafe, you get the option of cod or haddock for your fish. You also get delicious chips (that's fries, if you're American!) and a little jar of tartar sauce and ketchup. Personally, it wasn't nearly enough tartar sauce for me because it was so delicious! I had to steal half of my husband's, though I'm sure they would have brought me more if I'd asked.

Most of the fish and chips I had in London came with mushy peas, but at Poppie's you have to buy them separately. And I mean ......you HAVE to. They are SO good!! I had no idea mushy peas could be so delicious!!! I had a lot of excellent fish and chips in London, and this was certainly among the best.....but those peas were hands down THE best!!

We spent about 4 hours exploring this historic place! Could I have spent a little less time there? Maybe three hours would have sufficed! But as much as I love history, my husband is an even bigger history nerd! 😂

I do love history, but I'm just as big of a fan of the effect of old and new in one single skyline. Check out this deeply historic structure directly next to a super modern, sleek building. I love stuff like that, do you?
